TL;DR - A pretty good, lightweight portable scrim, but not without some inconveniences.DISCLAIMER - This review sample was provided to me free of charge. The opinions expressed are solely my own with no input from either manufacturer or Amazon. For context I work as a professional photographer.Overall, I like this scrim. The frame is quick and easy to setup, it's light weight, and is surprisingly rigid. Although, the tripod pin is quite slow to install and requires an Allan key, which I guarantee will be lost on the first job out in the field. But they include two, so at least you've got a spare. In terms of the boom pole, again not too shabby at all. It feels solid, and while the plastic used isn't exactly the highest quality, it gets the job done. Treat it gently and it should survive just fine for years, but if you work in fairly rough conditions, this isn't the pole for you.The elephant in the room is obviously the price. It's expensive for what it is, and for my own uses I would rather just have the scrim than the included pole.If you're intending to use this for product photography, you're probably just better off buying the scrim alone if that's available as the pole's utility is quite limited in that context. But if you're intending on using this on location where you have assistance then by all means. Though sticking it on a light stand is still likely a more efficient use of the scrim.Personally speaking, I'd be on the fence about purchasing this setup at it's msrp. The pole isn't exactly useful for me, and while the scrim frame is nice, the setup is tedious. If it went on sale I'd be more inclined to recommend it, but again it really depends on your use case. There are many cheaper alternatives to diffuse light and unless you absolutely need a scrim I'd be inclined to recommend not purchasing this setup, but you know your use case better than I do.But objectively it's a cool bit of kit and while I may not pay full price, I do think it's a good product.4/5

Excellent tool for diffusing light, whether it is on a studio light or the Sun, it is great for outdoor or indoor portraits. I love the fact I can have an assistant hold it and also mount it on a light stand when I am at a session working alone. It is very portable, ideal when you are working on location. Lightweight and handy. I didn't think I would like it as much as I do. Very handy tool for softening light.

Deal alert:Save 50$ with voucher coupon. At the time of writing this review. This is my review for the NEEWER light diffusion panel scrim kit with silver white and opaque reflector film. This product offers great build quality and a long boom pole for all you're shooting needs. The build:Again NEEWER does not disappoint with an all around excellent product built from the ground up with work in mind. It offers a great design that is easy to assemble with it's quad click mechanism. Yet folds up to a vary portable size, for on location shoots. The aluminum frame is light weight yet vary sturdy. Providing the end user with longer work hours with less discomfort. The materials on offer for the panels are well designed and seam to be thicker and a bit more wrinkle free. Then other sheets I've tested. The 4 elastic bands used to fix the panel to the frame, are well designed with good stretch and snap bak. They are also well sowed onto the sheets with good seem work and double stitching. Offering hopefully a long work life. The boom pole is heavier in comparison yet features a rugged and well designed system with shock cushioning in the form of air pistons. The pole is compact at only2.6ft. Yet can extend to an impressive 7.9ft if need be. You can attach microphones, scrims, reflectors, LED video lights, or studio monolight flashes with a softbox, beauty dish, snoot, and other light modifiers. Made of sturdy aluminum alloy, this boom pole is lightweight yet can support a device up to 4.4lb/2kg. Do not exceed the recommendations above since you might damage the pole or equipment and void you're warranty. In use:So this unit is perfectly suited for many on location problem solving. Especially in the lighting and occlusion department. You can really dial in what look you are trying to achieve even on a windy day. Compared to other ( flimsier ) units on the market. That won't make the cut in less then ideal weather.Scenario 1 You've found the perfect location yet the sun is to harsh and you need some shade for you're talent the ( opaque diffusion scrim ) will save the day. Offering a large enough occlusion with some of the suns natural colour. It will shade you're actors face allowing for the lighting crew to add their final touches even of a sunny day.Scenario 2 You can't seam to get the lighting and shadows on you're talents face of body just right. Well then the solid white reflector can save the day. Adding just the right amount of nature fill to your subject helping you achieve the perfect shot with appropriate contrast. You can place the reflector in many different angles helping you achieve the look you desire.Scenario 3 you've found a great dark environment yet need some extra bounce lighting. Yet you're main secondary light source just bit the dust. Well fear not, the silver reflector is there to save the day. Acting like a defuse mirror it can project a high amount of bounce lighting anywhere you might need it. Especially when exposed to direct sun light or high lumen sources.Final thoughts:If you are looking for a great all in one solution for on location shoots. That offers a high level of build quality and quick setup. Then this 3 in one scrim with boom pole offering from NEEWER might be what the doctor ordered. 5 out of 5 another great product filled with innovative design and well thought out use cases.

After seeing some behind the scenes footage of hollywood sets, I thought that scrims would be very difficult to even utilize. However, this particular scrim is one that a one-man band could potentially use. This is because this kit comes wtih a boompole. You can then adapt the boompole to a c-stand or light stand using a boompole adapter. Although not included, you can get one for relatively cheap. So, overall, I think this is a decent kit for diffusing light, whether it's outdoors or indoors. It all depends on the project of course, but this is a great way to get started for small/medium subjects.

I really like this panel. It is well engineered, high quality, and easy to open and close once you figure out how to do it.You unfold it and it kind of snaps into a large square -- it's larger than it looks in the photos. The manual does not say how to unfold it once it is snapped in place, so that was a fun puzzle for a few minutes until I realized there are things on the side that looks like they slide but you actually push them in like a button to collapse it. Once you know how to do it it's a breeze. The pole is nice too and doesn't just have to be used for the diffusion panel.Overall, this is a high quality set, as I've come to except from Neewer, and I'm quite pleased with it.
