This cable enables bi-directional interfacing of any NMEA 0183 device to current Garmin multi-function devices. In my case, it now sends the Garmin’s GPS data to an older VHF radio that only has NMEA 0183. The radio was unused but now, installed and with the GPS data, we have a full functional backup, including DSC, to our main VHF that’s connected to the Garmins via NMEA 2000.
