eTrex 20x is our upgraded version of the popular eTrex 20, with enhanced screen resolution for a more readable display and internal memory expanded to hold more maps. It retains the ease-of-use, durability and affordability that eTrex is legendary for and can also be used on ATVs, bicycles, boats, cars or hot air balloons.
See the Way
eTrex 20x has an enhanced 2.2-inch, 65K color, sunlight-readable display. Durable and waterproof, eTrex 20x is built to withstand the elements. It has an upgraded interface yet retains its legendary toughness to withstand dust, dirt, humidity or water.
Go Anywhere
With an array of compatible mounts, eTrex 20x is designed as a handheld or for use on ATVs, bicycles, in boats, cars even hot air balloons. Use the auto mount capability and City Navigator NT® maps for turn-by-turn driving directions, or the rugged mount for your motorcycle or ATV. Wherever you think you might take eTrex, it has the mapping and mounts to get you there.
Go Global
The eTrex series is the first-ever consumer-grade receivers that can track both GPS and GLONASS satellites simultaneously. When using GLONASS satellites, a system developed by the Russian Federation, the time it takes for the receiver to “lock on” to a position is (on average) approximately 20 percent faster than using GPS. And when using both GPS and GLONASS, the receiver has the ability to lock on to 24 more satellites than using GPS alone.
Add Maps
With its microSD™ card slot and expanded 3.7 GB of internal memory, eTrex 20x lets you load TOPO 24K and Garmin HuntView™ and hit the trail, plug in BlueChart® g2 preloaded cards for a great day on the water or City Navigator NT map data for turn-by-turn routing on roads. eTrex 20x also supports BirdsEye Satellite Imagery (subscription required), that lets you download satellite images to your device and integrate them with your maps.
Keep Your Fix
With its high-sensitivity, WAAS-enabled GPS receiver and HotFix satellite prediction, eTrex locates your position quickly and precisely and maintains its GPS location even in heavy cover and deep canyons.
Find Fun
eTrex 20x supports geocaching GPX files for downloading geocaches and details straight to your unit. Visit Geocaching.com to start your geocaching adventure. By going paperless, you're not only helping the environment but also improving efficiency. eTrex 20x stores and displays key information, including location, terrain, difficulty, hints and descriptions, which means no more manually entering coordinates and paper printouts. Simply upload the GPX file to your unit and start hunting for caches.
Plan Your Next Trip
Take charge of your next adventure with BaseCamp™, software that lets you view and organize maps, waypoints, routes, and tracks. This free trip-planning software even allows you to create Garmin Adventures that you can share with friends, family or fellow explorers. BaseCamp displays topographic map data in 2-D or 3-D on your computer screen, including contour lines and elevation profiles. It also can transfer an unlimited amount of satellite images to your device when paired with a BirdsEye Satellite Imagery subscription.

それまで使っていたM-241(Holux 2014年1月購入)が丸5年目に時計表示がしなくなったので購入した。(後で故障でないと知ったが!)日本語化届いてから3日目にやっと使える状態となった。日本語化フォントは「etrex20_30J_250」から使わせてもらう。 なお、FWはVer.2.50でした。

Perfect GPS for general outdoors activity. I think it could work great for bicycle touring or for small boats/kayak/canoe (don't know if it floats). Excellent signal acquisition. You can find free maps to download (google it). If you don't cover thousands of miles, the internal memory is plenty to store the maps and data points. I like it because it is smaller than I thought (small screen = better battery life and lighter), it's solid and water resistant. I choose this model specifically because it is not a touch screen. Touch screens are good for phones but in winter time with thick gloves or when I'm in a boat or truck that shakes, or when I have dirty fingers (outdoors = dirty fingers), I WANT BUTTONS. This unit has been tested and worked great at -40 C/F in the taiga so it's plenty good for that. In the winter, you can put lithium AAs, carry spares and have the peace of mind it won't die on you. I couldn't be happier with it. Final thought, this unit can do car navigation and map routing but it's NOT the intended purpose so don't buy that to use it in your car only. It's VERY easy to use too but don't be a fool and read the manual and get used to it before going in the woods.

Although I do love exploring and getting off the grid, I've had one too many close calls where I found myself in the woods at night unsure where I was. Although I was miraculously able to find my way back each time, I knew that someday I would be the stupid guy who was never able to find his way back and died if I kept that up. So, after much research I found that the Garmin eTrex20 would be the best for me and to take backpacking. The thing you need to know about this product, is that the quick start manual (like other reviewers have said) is essentially useless as it only shows you the first steps in setting up the GPS. Since this is the first GPS I've ever had, it took me a couple of hours of tinkering with it and extensive googling to get this GPS setup the way I want it. I do admit that I learn something new every time I use it, and that once I master this device it will be something I can safely rely my life on. It's definitely geared towards people that are more tech-savvy and people that like to learn things hands-on (who reads manuals anyway :P ). The advantage of getting a Garmin is the bounty of free maps that you can download and the customization capabilities makes this product worth the cost.Yes, you can buy maps from Garmin for a pretty hefty fee. But, there's plenty of free maps that you can find online.I've used this a few times now backpacking, and has made finding my way much easier. The durability, waterproof, long battery life, and rugged exterior makes it a perfect companion for any outdoor enthusiast and survivalist. However, I would recommend getting a screen protector to avoid any major scratches on the screen.
