These earring backs are great as my daughter constantly loses hers. They are silver plated and come in silver and gold and they fit securely. Very useful.

I have a couple of earrings where the butterflies are not to my liking for various reasons (eg the silicone ones, or ones that look like little salt shakers, or even normal butterflies that have really sharp edges) - so I was looking for some replacements that will prevent me having to use butterflies from other pairs I have.These all have 925 stamped on them which I hope means they are sterling silver. The listing says they are electroplated silver, which is a bit strange if it has the 925 stamp on it. From my understanding something cannot be stamped with 925 if it is only plated with silver - the 925 stamp is meant to be reserved for items that are made of sterling silver, meaning they are composed of at least 92.5% pure silver. If it's only silver-plated, it cannot legally be stamped with 925. Usually electroplating is done on a different base metal like copper, brass or stainless steel. Some of the silver ones here are slightly magnetic which would suggest they are not made of silver.The gold ones - I'm not sure what was used to make them gold, but they are not magnetic at all.In use the butterflies feel pleasant to handle - not too sharp-edged. They fit well with all the earrings I've tried and feel comfortable to wear.
