MARINCO 50A SEALING COLLAR WITH RING

I need to connect an extension cable to the Smart Plug cable in order to reach the power pedestal. The extension I have was missing the collar to secure it to the other cable. This product popped right on to the extension cable plug and threaded to the other cable to secure the two plugs together. Super easy!

Fit both my shore power cords to connect them to a 50 to dual 30 amp "Y" adapter. Easy to install. Keeps cord from getting accidently unplugged at the adapter. Be sure to confirm existing connector has at least one of the threaded rings, as this unit only comes with one. Extra rings are also available.

Fit perfectly on a 30A plug. Using a little dishwashing soap made installation quick and easy. Technique is similar to installing a tire on a rim. Amazon price was excellent and it was delivered quickly. Very happy with this purchase.

Amazon appears to mix reviews of different Marinco Sealing Rings together. This review is for the "30A Sealing Collar & Threaded Ring". It is intended to create a weather proof seal at the junction of two extension cords. It only works with Marinco cords. The two cords should already have sealing rings on the female ends (if not, you can get a new ring on this page). This Sealing Collar & Threaded Ring supplies another ring that you need to install on the male end of one of the cords (the end where the join will be made). You will have to slip the ring over the flange near the plug. Check the cord end that already has the ring installed as an example. This may seem impossible at first, but if you do it correctly, it's easy. As reviewer G. Or J. Horn suggested, start pushing the ring over the flange at a angle on one side. Work the ring over the flange at one of the leading edges, "similar to mounting a tire". After the half way point, it goes very quickly. I did not need to use any pry tools.Once you have the ring installed, attach the collar to one of the rings, connect the cords and attach the second ring to the other end of collar. Now you have a weather proof connection that will also secure the cords together. As some reviewers observed, these fine thread rings tend to stick, especially if dirt gets into the thread. Cleaning occupationally with a tooth brush, maybe using some window cleaner, helps. Applying a light coat of petroleum jelly doesn't hurt, but it also attracts dirt.
