Purchased this to protect an android based automobile entertainment system/touchscreen. I had one recently stop working for no apparent reason. It's likely that a transient voltage spike (aka power surge) took it out as these things can be very sensitive and automotive electrical systems can spike up to 20% higher than the 12 volts that's required to power them and even higher in faulty systems. This risk is elevated when wiring directly to the vehicles electrical system, as opposed to using a power supply like a phone charger which can handle a range of input power. These diodes should eliminate or at least minimize the risk of power surges destroying sensitive components and cost very little, certainly less than a car stereo/entertainment system!I will try to update with any findings in the future.
